ISB Recently installed Merlin 4000 Press Brake Safety  Packages on multiple Trumpf V Series  machines.

The Merlin 4000 Light Curtain Columns are mounted on the existing side doors behind a protective channel. The touchscreen HMI is mounted in a location where the operator can easily see the prompting messages.
Two Trumpf V 130 and one V-85 recently had new Merlin 4000 Press Brake Guarding Packages installed. These Trumpf Press Brakes were built in the early 2000’s and are considered “legacy machines” by the manufacturer, but retrofitting the ISB Merlin can often be done easily by our qualified installers.
The ISB Wiring Box displays the status LED’s of the safety relays through its window and provides for a neat and very professional method to connect wiring from the light curtain columns, HMI, and interface connections to the press brake controller.

I recently received a call from our representative, Mid Atlantic Machinery (www.midatlanticmachinery.com) that had a customer with an urgent need to safeguarded three Trumpf V Series press brakes with our Merlin 4000 Safety Packages.   These Trumpf  V Series machines were built in the early 2000’s and are now considered  “Legacy Machines” by the OEM, but these were ideal candidates to have  our Merlin 4000 Press Brake Guarding Packages retrofitted.   Because  their customer’s entire fabrication department was locked out, we were asked to move mountains if necessary to get these machines safeguarded so that the customer could get back to bending their parts, asap.  Within 2 weeks of the customer’s urgent request for help, we shipped in all the required equipment and  had our installer on site and completed the installations and training on two of their Trumpf V130 press brakes.  He left a few days later with all the brakes running, fully safeguarded!  We heard that our customer was hurting and we made it happen quickly!

The ISB MERLIN 4000 is our newest design that is specifically designed to deal with all the challenges of safeguarding a press brake.  Only the MERLIN concept, pioneered by ISB, can learn each flange profile while making your initial sample part and creates a window exactly the proper size and location required for each specific cycle.  This opening may change from stroke to stroke automatically, completely determined by our processor, not your operator or set-up personnel.    The end result is that you have the most productive and safest system that operates exclusively with ISB’s MX Safety light curtain columns, that are CE certified by TUV for Type 4 Functional Safety.  All wiring boxes are UL listed.
